At the Festival of Sensuality we invite a range of talented teachers with deep experience in their fields to run workshops on things like body awareness, sexual dynamics, communication, dance, massage and more.

Have a look at what the workshop leaders will be offering.

There will be 9 or 10 workshops a day and you’ll have time to take part in 3 of them. And, as we encourage a participatory feeling on the festival, on the last couple of days of the festival you are also free to propose a workshop 🙂

Then in the evenings there will be different activities such as sharing circles, blindfold friending, a cuddle party and a play party, as well as music around the fire most nights.

Above you can see the giant workshop board which lives in the tea tent and while you go for your morning coffee you can plan your day 🙂

There’s a giant workshop board where events can be added and so at any given moment there are usually at least 3 different things going for you to choose from.

We work out the exact program when all the teachers are gathered in person the day before the festival but here are some of the titles of workshops from previous years to give you a taste of what might be going on:

yoga – boundaries and consent – twerking – connecting with authenticity – playing with boundaries – the basics of breathwork – inner consent and rejections – embodied movement – freeing the voice – queer Q&A – authentic relating – breathwork – romancing your life – sensuality through rope – pain and pleasure – – acro-yoga – laughter yoga – primal play – 4 hands massage – mindful touch – erotic storytelling – relationship cookbook – hypnotic massage – playfight – contact improv – the joy of dance – vulva printing – sensual pain – Kali connection – safety in sex – writing love letters – approaching shame with connection – explore your erotic landscape – ritual of the senses – face in the mirror – exploring & appreciating the body – end of week play party…

The workshops are in English and last between one and a half and two hours. The only workshops that are compulsory are those on the first day where we introduce the fundamentals of consent so that we’re all on the same page and can relax in a safe community for the week 🙂

The rest of the time you can decide your schedule and only take part in the sessions that interest you. When you’re not in a workshop you can hang out and chat in the tea tent, swim in the lake or wander in the forest.

Some of the workshops can involve themes that bring up challenging feelings and so there will always be one of our angels around to provide extra care during these moments.

Support pods

The festival can bring up a lot of emotions, a lot of challenges, a lot of interesting questions and we don’t want you to be alone as you go through these! So on the first morning we arrange support pods of 4 or 5 people and every day you’ll meet with your pod to discuss, share and chat about all that’s happening with you at the festival.

The support pods really bring us together as a community and so they happen every day at breakfast time.

Mealtimes

We make all the food for everyone on the festival – it’s vegan and very tasty! We eat twice a day in a circle, sitting on the ground and you bring your own plate, spoon and cup. Lunch and dinner is also when we take advantage of having the whole group together to announce workshops, news and general festival guidance.

So here’s how your day might look:

7.30 a.m. – go to morning yoga or else the tea tent in search of your coffee fix

8.30 a.m. get some breakfast

9 a.m. – time for support pods

10 a.m. – go to the authentic communication workshop

1 p.m. – lunch! Go sit in a circle and make some friends while you eat

3 p.m. – go to the sensual dance workshop

5 p.m. – go to the intro to rope play workshop

7 p.m. – have dinner under a sunset sky

9 p.m. – go to a sharing circle in one of the big yurts or dance and sing around the fire

midnight – chat in the tea tent and suddenly realise you only have 7 hours until morning yoga begins……

During the days the substance of the festival is the workshops. You don’t have to go to them and it’s fine to just chill in the tea tent or go for a walk in the forest but there’s a busy program going on that you can join.

Celebration

In the evenings there might also be the occasional workshop but it’s also a time when we can take a break from learning and go more into sharing our stories, hanging out and celebrating life.

Most nights there will be a fire and musicians can gather around the fire to play and sing. There are no concerts or stages and everyone can take part; singing like no one is listening, dancing like no one is watching.

The tea tent is open at nights, too, and many people like to gather there for a hot drink and a chat by candle light.

Sharing circles

When it comes to sex, love and our bodies, there’s soooooooo much to talk about.

For many of us, there are things about our sexuality and our relationships that we’ve always been too embarrassed to talk about. We’ve learned that they’re not topics for polite conversation. We might feel ashamed to even admit some of the things that we feel.

But together, in a safe and judgement-free space, there’s the chance to share, understand and heal.

Throughout the week there will be various sharing circles: some just for men, some just for women, someone for everyone, where we can get deep into tissues surrounding sexuality, body image, relationships, family, trauma and all the hopes, dreams and emotions that come with them.

We’ll gather together in the big tipi and will often use the ancient format of the talking circle where only one person can speak at a time and the rest of the circle listens with empathy and attention.

You don’t have to speak but often you find stuff coming to the surface that you realise you can share in an atmosphere of care and compassion. The talking circle allows even the quietest voice to be heard and it brings people together as a community like nothing else.

Cuddle parties

Cuddle parties are opportunities for people to get together and exchange touch, caresses, hugs and cuddles in a non-sexual way.

They are fully-clothed and are an opportunity to really open up to the joy of physical touch without any agenda.

Play parties

Play parties can get a little wilder…

The essence of a play party is that people can ask for what they would like to happen – perhaps they’d like their body to be caressed by someone’s hair. Perhaps they would like to have a 6 hand massage. It’s a place for explorations and, well, play 🙂

But it’s not a free-for-all. They begin wit guidance on consent and setting boundaries and have different zones – in one area people may just be holding hands or dancing together, in another they might be getting sexual.

Everyone is free to find their own way in their own tempo.

The Festival of Sensuality is a sex-positive place with workshops that dive into issues and experiences relating to sex, relationships, physical and emotional feelings, communication and boundaries.

It’s not surprising that a lot of stuff can come up.

So how do we make sure that you feel safe and cared for?

Establishing consent

Firstly, on the opening morning we establish together with the entire group how to ask for and give consent. We learn how to say ‘no’ without feeling guilty for doing so.

We learn how to hear the answer ‘no’ without feeling rejected. Instead we can hear it as an act of trust as someone else lets us know what they genuinely do and don’t want in that moment.

We also introduce gentle but clear signals that you can use to set boundaries and establish an atmosphere of trust.

Angels

We have a team of angels on site who are always there for you.

These are people whose role at the festival is to be there when you need someone to talk to, share what’s going on with you or just get a hug. They will listen without judgement and provide what support they can.

And each day the angels will hold a little open session at the tea tent where people can chat about what’s challenges they’re facing, what insights they’re getting – whatever you’re going through, you don’t have to do it alone 🙂

Support pods

At the beginning of the festival you’ll join a support pod of 4 or 5 other participants and a core part of every day, just after breakfast, will be meeting with your pod and sharing with one another how you’re feeling.

The support pods were an absolute hit on our first festival and people actually continued after the festival to stay in touch and meet a couple online a couple time a week…
